Google Business Profile audit: 24 checks, weighted for Hawaii.

Most Hawaii businesses that do not appear in the map pack are missing the same handful of profile fields. This free tool scores your profile the way we score it in a paid audit, then tells you what to fix first.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is stored or sent. Takes about five minutes with your profile open in another tab.

    How the score works

What the audit measures and why.

    Why are the items weighted?

Because they are not equal. The primary category and a consistent name-address-phone move rankings more than a weekly post ever will; the weights reflect what we see change map-pack positions in Hawaii audits.

Identity and location items carry the most weight because they decide eligibility: a profile with the wrong primary category or an ineligible address does not rank no matter how many photos it has. Reviews and consistency come next because they decide prominence among eligible businesses. Content items are real but smaller levers.

What does a full audit add to this checklist?

A geo-grid showing where you rank from each town, a comparison against the three competitors who currently hold the pack, a citation scan for spelling and address conflicts, and a review of the website page the profile links to.

The checklist tells you what is missing on the profile itself. The full audit tells you how far behind or ahead you are, which is what decides whether fixing the profile alone will be enough or whether site content and reviews need to follow. Our Hawaii local SEO page explains the full build.

Which Hawaii-specific items catch people most often?

Ineligible addresses, duplicate profiles for towns without staff, inconsistent Hawaiian spelling, and state holiday hours left unset.

Rural Hawaii runs on P.O. boxes, which Google will not accept as a business address, so service-area setup is the fix. Businesses that "cover the island" often create a profile per town and lose all of them to suspension. The ʻokina question splits citations in two. And every Prince Kūhiō Day a wave of profiles shows "open" to customers standing at a locked door.

    After the score

What to do with a low number.

Work the list from the top weight down. Most profiles move from the 40s to the 80s in two sessions.

    Fix identity first

Category, name and spelling. These take an hour and decide whether you are eligible to appear at all.

    Then location

Address eligibility, service areas, hours and holiday hours. Service-area businesses hide the address and set real areas.

    Then reviews

Set up a request flow that fires after every job and reply to everything. Velocity beats total.

    Then consistency

Make the site page, schema and citations agree with the profile to the letter. The ʻokina guide settles the spelling question.

    Then content

Services with descriptions, 20 real photos, seeded questions, a monthly post.

    Then measure

Rankings from each town you serve, calls and direction requests from the profile, month over month.

    Questions

    Profile audit questions.

Yes. The checklist runs in your browser and stores nothing. The full audit, with a geo-grid and competitor comparison, is also free and comes back within one business day.

It reflects the weighting we use in paid audits and is a reliable guide to what to fix first. It cannot see your competitors, so a high score in a crowded Honolulu category may still not be enough; the full audit answers that.

Most of it does. The Hawaii-specific section covers island rules, spelling and holidays that mainland checklists miss.

Services left empty. The services section is where secondary searches get matched, and it is blank on most Hawaii profiles we review.

Yes. Profile rebuilds are the first phase of every local SEO engagement, priced on the pricing page.

Set the profile up as a service-area business: hide the address, set the islands and districts you serve, and verify through the available method. Do not enter the P.O. box as an address.

Big Island SEO, the Hawaii brand of Eye To Ad Media (established 2012), manages Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta ads for Hawaii businesses on Hawaii Island, Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai and Lanai. Phone 1-800-481-8638. Management is a flat monthly fee quoted after a free audit; setup is included with management; ad spend is billed by the platform directly to the client with no markup; accounts are owned by the client; engagements are month-to-month.

Hawaii observes Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time (UTC minus 10) all year with no daylight saving time. Google Ads ad schedules follow the ad account's time zone, so an account set to a mainland time zone runs schedules two to six hours ahead of Hawaii time depending on the zone and season. Google Ads location options include presence (people in or regularly in targeted locations) and presence or interest (which also includes people who have shown interest in those locations).
